Overview
Caterwil GTS electric wheelchairs offer a new way for individuals reliant on wheelchairs to stay active and navigate cities without limitations.
The unique stair-climbing wheelchairs in the Caterwil GTS series cater to individuals of all ages, including adults and children with various disabilities like spinal cord issues, cerebral palsy, and lower limb injuries. These wheelchairs are also beneficial for individuals facing complex medical conditions, such as stroke survivors, heart attack patients, those undergoing chemotherapy, or individuals with diabetes. Additionally, they serve those with limited mobility, including the elderly.
Caterwil GTS wheelchairs are ideal for engaging in daily activities like shopping, studying, and city exploration. They facilitate easy participation in entertainment events and even enhance travel experiences. The foldable back of Caterwil chairs allows them to be compact for airport transport and easy trunk storage in cars. For convenient transportation, a portable ramp can assist in loading the wheelchair into a car trunk.
The stair-climbing electric wheelchairs feature an advanced control system combining electric drive with wheel and track systems for safe and independent movement across various terrains. The wheel system is suitable for flat surfaces, while the track system aids in overcoming obstacles like stairs up to 20 cm high.
Advantages of the Caterwil GTS4
Each new model of the stair-climbing electric wheelchair, such as the GTS4, boasts enhanced features compared to previous versions like the GTS3 and GTS3 Advanced. The GTS4 includes speed monitors on each wheel called encoders that provide real-time data updates for precise control over movement.
Moreover, the GTS4 incorporates reliability features such as a track system protection mechanism to prevent slipping, a reinforced chain for durability under pressure, a waterproof case safeguarding electronic components from moisture, and high-performance ball bearings in the caterpillar track for smooth operation even with prolonged use. Visual enhancements like black rubber wheels and protective track covers add aesthetic appeal to the device’s design.
Safety systems
The GTS4 wheelchair prioritizes safety with built-in gyroscopes ensuring user positioning during stair climbing and secure grip on stairs to prevent unintended movements. Software-level stabilizing systems intervene if users attempt unsafe maneuvers during the climbing mode, automatically adjusting wheelchair direction for user safety.
In case of battery depletion, electromagnetic brakes engage to immobilize the wheelchair until the user switches to manual mode using special handles. Safety belts (2-point or 4-point) further protect users during operation.
Despite all the advantages of the GTS4 stair climbing wheelchair, production of this model has been discontinued. The user-friendly and safety features were inherited by the subsequent, more enhanced model, the Caterwil GTS5.
